What is the difference between blepharoplasty and ptosis repair?

Ptosis repair corrects an abnormally low upper eyelid position, typically by adjusting the muscle or tendon responsible for lifting the eyelid.

Some patients have both conditions and may benefit from a combination of treatments.

Does insurance cover eyelid surgery?

Insurance may cover certain eyelid procedures when they are medically necessary and applicable coverage requirements are met.

Functional upper eyelid surgery, ptosis repair, and reconstructive procedures may qualify for coverage. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is generally not covered.

Yes. Dr. Brannan performs eyelid and facial reconstruction following skin cancer removal, including reconstruction after Mohs surgery.

Treatment focuses on restoring appropriate function while achieving the best possible cosmetic outcome.

Can skin cancer be removed directly at your office?

Yes. In appropriate cases, skin cancer can be removed in our office without a separate Mohs procedure.

For patients undergoing Mohs surgery with a dermatologist, Dr. Brannan can perform reconstruction following cancer removal.

The recommended approach depends on the location, type, and extent of the cancer.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Your consultation begins with a discussion of your concerns, medical history, and treatment goals.

An examination of the relevant eyelid and facial structures will help determine the diagnosis and appropriate treatment options. Additional testing or clinical photography may be recommended when necessary.

How long is recovery after eyelid surgery?

Recovery varies depending on the procedure and individual healing.

Swelling and bruising are common during the initial recovery period. Most patients gradually resume normal activities as healing progresses, following individualized postoperative instructions.
