Patient Guide
Your specific instructions may vary according to the procedure performed. The guidance below provides a general overview of what patients can expect before and after eyelid surgery.
Follow the medication, fasting, transportation, and other preoperative instructions provided by our office. Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home when required and plan for a quiet recovery period after surgery.
Use cold compresses or ice as directed to help limit swelling and bruising. Use prescribed ointment or eye-care medications according to your postoperative instructions.
Stop using ice. Bruising and swelling commonly remain during this period and gradually improve. Continue wound and eye care as instructed.
Do not drive until your vision is clear and you are no longer affected by sedation, ointment, significant swelling, or anything that interferes with safe vision. Immediately after surgery, an ice pack may cover the eyes and sometimes one eye may be patched.
Postoperative visits allow us to monitor healing, eyelid position, comfort, and the evolution of your surgical result. Everyone heals at a different pace.
Always follow the individualized instructions provided by our office, which take precedence over general website guidance.
